Excel University Interactive
I am excited to announce the launch of Excel University Interactive! Up until now, the Excel U content was delivered only through a book format (both paperback and digital). Starting now, the content is officially available as an online interactive group study format as well.
This course is the result of a project I started on March 1, 2011. That is the day I wrote the first sentence of Excel University Volume 1. The book was released on the Amazon bookstore on July 23, 2012. And now, March 2013, the online interactive version is here…wow! So excited 🙂
To me, the online format is a wonderful way to learn Excel. Since it is self-paced, you can work at your own speed. You can zip through the features you know, and take your time working through content that is new. Each week, you watch the lecture videos, do the homework activities and then nail the quiz.
Since it is designed for groups, it is very social and interactive. The activities are engaging and help reinforce the practical application of the topics covered.
This 90 second video helps to explain it.
To conduct the course, we set up a comprehensive learning management system (LMS). It is an effective tool that facilitates online learning. The course is 8 weeks long, and the LMS unlocks the weekly content on the Monday of each week. Here is a screenshot of the course dashboard:
Each week gets it own section, and the content is organized in the following categories:
- Lecture video
- Homework activities
- Quiz
- Additional resources
One of the key weekly homework activities is the Excel workbooks. You download them and work hands-on in Excel to complete the exercises. Here is a screenshot of the content for Week 2.
This course is available for CPE credit through the California Society of CPAs. Check out the CalCPA website for enrollment information and to register for an upcoming session.
I sincerely appreciate everyone’s encouragement and support during this project. Plus, I want to extend a special thank you to the team that helped me out. I am really proud of this course and content, and I hope it provides value. I hope it helps you get your work done faster and more efficiently. Excel rules!
