What was life like before you joined Excel University?
My name is Lori Riley, and my job title is Lead Tax Accountant for sales tax. I’m based out of Indiana, I work remotely for UScellular.
I have always used Excel, and I have always been one of those individuals who would build upon what others had already built.
When I wanted to change something I would refer back to what had already been done. It was never something that I could build on my own. I knew that was a deficiency and I wanted to correct it.
What has changed since you joined Excel University?
Now, I am able to create the formulas that always depended upon other people to do. I am also able to utilize the advanced techniques that I have learned in the class to be more efficient and do a better job at my work.
It really is invaluable to make efficiencies where efficiencies need to be made. You feel like you are more qualified and more successful, and that you can add value. That is kind of a big deal for me.
What makes Excel University better than searching Google or YouTube?
Excel University provides you a foundation on which they build upon. You can pick up the program at the point that best matches your current skill.
If you start using Google and doing videos, you are missing so much because you are not aware of what you don’t know. By going through the class Jeff has provided I have learned all kinds of things that are going to help me.
What is your favorite time saving technique?
I really like the table features that Excel has. By implementing different skill sets and the available Excel functions and processes, I should be able to save 75% in time.
A lot of it has to do with improving the formulas that I currently have and improving my efficiency in my role.
Would you recommend Excel University?
I would definitely recommend Excel University to anyone who works in the industry, whether that be corporate industry or public accounting.
